DOMESTIC, FARMING AND COMMERCIAL AGRICULTURAL NEEDS

															CATTLE RAIL
Cattle rail (also known as yard rail) is most commonly used in horse yards, stock yards, hand rails and safety barriers. They are a common alternative to standard square posts and are decorative enough for outdoor seating and furniture. Cattle rail features an oval shaped pipe section that uses traditional pipe sections as a basis with roller flattened sides. The advantages of the cattle rail are that it reduces bruising for cattle and when used in cattle yard panels, it reduces the number of rails needed, due to its wider design. The rail is supplied in a galvanised finish, making it corrosion and rust resistant. At BJ Howes Metaland, we have a large range of sizes available. However, the most common cattle rail size is 115 x 42 x 2.0 at 6.1mtr.
RAILTIGHT END BRACKETS
RailTight end brackets make installing post and rail fencing easier and quicker. You don’t need to use a welder, grinder, or generator when you install them. To install the RailTight end brackets onto your rail, simply screw on the end bracket to the post and then slot the rail over it. These end brackets are designed from high-quality materials to withstand outdoor environments and provide long lasting performance. Whether you are installing a boundary fence, cattle rail, or other agricultural infrastructure, these brackets will ensure a strong connection between rails and posts. The RailTight end brackets are a cost-efficient and easy solution for constructing a steel or timber fence, but they will make your rail fence look tidy and professionally installed. Additionally, the smooth edges make them bruise-proof and safe for horses and other livestock.

															DOWNGRADE
Downgrade steel is steel that is near perfect, but has minor imperfections such as odd lengths, weathering, dents or a different wall thickness than what meets Australian standards. The most common types of downgrades are found in RHS and steel pipes. Due to the minor imperfections of downgrade, they are sold at a discounted price. Downgrade is an economical alternative for general purpose rural applications. At BJ Howes Metaland, we have a range of sizes that vary in condition and quality. Contact your local BJ Howes to enquire about questions and stock levels regarding our downgrade steel.
W STRAP
W Strap is used for a variety of rural applications, but its primarily used as cattle yard siding. W Straps are an alternative to trailer side rails, tailgates and flat top tray bodies. Additional rural applications include sheep pen rails, loading ramp sides, rural landscaping and soil preservation. The W Strap panels are made with 2 humps which give it an elongates ‘W’ in appearance. The standard length is 6.0m, but they are also available in 180 x 1.5 = 2.53kg/m, 230 x 1.5 = 3.37 kg/m and 280 x 1.5 = 3.62 kg/m.

															SILO SECTIONS
Silo sections are designed to function as silo ring beams, providing a transition between the silo wall and the discharge hopper. The inclined surface of the silo section matches the angle of the hopper, while the other three surfaces remain horizontal or vertical. This design allows for easy and secure connection of the silo wall to the hopper plate. Beyond their use as ring beams, silo sections can also serve as an affordable alternative for silo support legs. Although originally intended for silos and bins, these sections are versatile and can be applied in a range of other applications that take advantage of their distinct cross-sectional shape.
